Native Style Flute

Collecting and playing handmade, folk-inspired wind instruments is a passion of mine. Indigenously known by its Lakota name, Siyotanka, meaning "flute" or "great song," this ancient end-blown instrument originates among the Indigenous peoples of North America. Throughout history, it was most commonly used as a courting flute, with numerous oral traditions preserving its origins and cultural significance. In modern times, the instrument has found renewed appreciation for its warm, resonant tone.
